Amy’s family photoshoot, just in time for Christmas.
Amy recently hired me to take family portraits. We had a couple of hiccups, first being we can to cancel because her father has been in a bad car accident. He was hit by another driver and broke his back in three places. Can you believe with the physical therapy he’s walking?! After two and a half weeks, he’s recovered enough to be heading home from the hospital today. I’m so grateful Amy’s dad is doing well.
The next hiccup was choosing a location. We finally landed at Amy’s boyfriend, John’s, childhood home in Idaho Falls. He grew up on a beautiful farm. It was definitely picturesque! Their photos almost look like they have a backdrop.
Amy also brought along their sweet dog, Winnie (a Great Dane). Winnie cooperated wonderfully – better than I would ever have imagined. To top it off, Winnie is very photogenic and created some fun, genuine smiles for the whole family! If you have a dog you love, you should definitely get family portraits with your pet.
Amy’s family is quite beautiful, so it was hard not to take a good photo.
I love how playful they were, and they were willing to get a bit cold in the name of family portraits.
When I was finished taking photos, I asked if there were any specific poses they would like to get. This is when the surprise happened.
Yup. This surprise!
John didn’t let anyone know he was going to propose, not even me, the photographer. The best part of it all was capturing the sweet reactions of Amy’s kids. They were so excited for their mom, Amy and John.
Look at their genuine excitement! It totally made the Christmas season for me.
A surprise engagement + a wintery backdrop + family portraits = one amazing photoshoot!
The family portraits ended with a group hug and a shot of Amy’s new engagement ring.
What an amazing day!
