Creating great outdoor headshots with the help of Godox Speedlights

When taking headshot on-location in Grand Teton National Park, I was able to experiment using Godox Speedlights to help balance the light in my portraits. I’ve always loved taking photos but portraits were never my strong suit. Once I started using speed lights, a whole new world of portrait photography opened up.

These next headshots of Samuel Prows were taken using amazing Godox Speedlights.  Godox are different than normal speedlights because you can use super-fast shutter speed. Usually, you can’t set your shutter faster than 1/250 but with Godox, you can set lightening-fast shutter speeds.

I also used the Godox lights to shoot this portrait of Ericka with her Nikon Camera. Look at that beautiful glass she’s holding!

I love the say the light is perfectly balanced in this photo:

This next shot of Cami, was shot using the Godox lights and a reflector. It was a beautiful bright morning. The lights and reflector helped balance the background and foreground.

After I took the above outdoor portrait of Cami, she took this portrait of me:

I loved learning more about taking on-location portraits. There’s a little bit of a learning curve when it comes to lighting your subject while outdoors. I truly enjoyed experimenting with Godox lights.
